About Us

The DGUT-CNAM Institute, Dongguan University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as the DGUT-CNAM Joint Institute) is the first Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in Dongguan and the sixth in Guangdong, approved by China’s Ministry of Education. Established jointly by Dongguan University of Technology and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) in France, the Joint Institute focuses on the field of smart manufacturing. It operates as a non-independent legal entity under Dongguan University of Technology and forms an integral part of CNAM’s global education network.

Drawing on CNAM’s long history, well-established model, and outstanding achievements in engineering education, as well as Dongguan University of Technology’s strong foundation and rapid development in science and engineering disciplines, the Joint Institute addresses the pressing needs of Dongguan’s economic restructuring and industrial upgrading. By systematically integrating the French engineering education system, it has developed a contemporary engineering education model that combines distinctive local features with internationally shared characteristics, reflecting a successful fusion of educational philosophies and systems from both partners.

Located at the Songshan Lake Campus of Dongguan University of Technology, the Joint Institute adheres to the university’s motto, “Learning reveals our limitations.” It embodies the university’s three core principles: being application-oriented, locally engaged, and internationalized. As a regional university responding to the global demands of local economy and society, Dongguan University of Technology established the Joint Institute as a strategic initiative to cultivate specialized international talents. This aligns with the Songshan Lake Campus’s role as a growth engine and innovation pilot zone for talent development.

The Joint Institute aims to cultivate high-caliber engineering talent with international perspectives, familiarity with global norms, proficiency in Chinese, English, and French, and cross-cultural communication skills, thereby supporting the innovation-driven development of the local economy. Its overarching approach involves comprehensively and substantively introducing high-quality educational resources from CNAM, enhancing the internationalization of faculty, teaching methods, and quality assurance mechanisms, while maintaining its distinctive higher education identity. By leveraging the abundant internship and practical opportunities offered by Dongguan’s robust manufacturing sector, the Institute promotes synergy among talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services, striving to become a renowned Sino-foreign cooperative education institution recognized both locally and nationally.
