On the evening of November 15, 2021, the Sino-French Engineers Forum ushered in the first lecture of this semester, which was held online via Tencent meeting. The Institute specially invited Dr. Ling Hangjian, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Dartmouth University in Massachusetts, to lecture to freshmen students of 2021 on the application of three-dimensional particles tracking technology intheboundary layer and collective motion.

In the lecture, Dr. Ling Hangjian talked about the three-dimensional particle tracking technology around us in simple examples from the perspective of daily life and explained the relevant concepts and definitions to the students with pictures and text. In this way, students had a deeper understanding and experience of the application of three-dimensional particle tracking technology in the boundary layer and collective motion. The lecture also inspired the warmth of the students of scientific exploration.

After the lecture, many students of 2021 of the DCI exchanged their inspirations:

Finally, Dr. Ling Hangjian warmly shared his experience of studying abroad with the students, gave valuable suggestions to the students, and wished the students of the DCIsuccess in their academic studies.

The Sino-French Engineers Forum is a highly academic and professional forum that fits the features of the disciplines in the DCI and the characteristics of the students and it plans to invite guest scholars at home and abroad to lecture to the students in the DCI. Therefore, students can fully understand the subject knowledge related to the courses, cultivate their interest in science and improve their English. In this way, we hope it can lay a solid foundation for the all-around development of students in the future.
