History of CNAM

Founded in 1794, Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers(CNAM)is directly under the Ministry of National Education of France. It is one of the 30 best state specialized colleges in France which belong to the category of "large institutions", such as Ecole Centrale Paris, Sciences Po Paris and ÉCole des ponts ParisTech.

CNAM Alumni

For more than 220 years, Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers(CNAM)has maintained an innovative spirit, and its alumni are all over the French academic, political and business circles. So far, it has cultivated two presidents of French Republic (Paul Doumer and Alexandre Millerand), world-class scientists such as Nicolas Cano and internationally renowned alumni such as Mohamed Dionne (current Prime Minister of Senegal).

Advantages of CNAM

CNAM implements various degrees of higher education such as bachelor's, master's, doctoral and engineer education (Elite Education), and has colleges, departments, centers, and laboratories in various disciplines such as science, engineering, management, law, agriculture, medicine, culture, and art. Its Engineering Institute (EICNAM), Digital Animation Institute (ENJMIN), ITA institute aero Technique and Institutional de métrologie are absolutely leading in France and even in Europe.

In Eduversal's ranking, the Institute of engineering of Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers ranked the fourth in France, and economy management, MBA and EMBA ranked the seventh in France.

The Institute has 7 academicians of the French Academy of Sciences, such as Professor Michel Godet and Professor Marc Himbert, as well as many excellent teaching and research personnel. Its education quality and reputation have been highly praised by students, enterprises, and the government.

Philosophy of CNAM

As a higher education and scientific research institute, CNAM positioned its purpose as "improving the national industrial level" at the very beginning. CNAM has maintained scientific research cooperation with European first-class enterprises in communication, machinery, and software design for a long time.

CNAM also maintains a close cooperative relationship with government agencies, obtains a large amount of education and research funding support from all aspects, and undertakes many military and civilian research topics entrusted by the state and enterprises. Theinstitute has a number of national laboratories (National Scientific Research Center - CNRS laboratory), maintaining a high academic level in France, Europe and even the world in many fields (such as materials, metrology, robotics, automation, etc.).

CNAM Museum

CNAM museum is the only national science and technology Museum in France and one of the three best science and technology museums in the world. CNAM Museum has a rich collection ofthe first steam car and the first aircraft in France. CNAM also undertakes the mission of spreading science, technology, and culture to the people of the world entrusted by the French government based on its collections. Meanwhile, it maintains a long-term cooperative relationship with China Science and Technology Museum.

CNAM has extensive cooperative relations with Chinese educational and scientific research institutions (such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan University, Southeast University, South China University of technology, Xi'an University of Electronic Science, and technology, etc.), and it has received a considerable number of Chinese visiting scholars and trained dozens of Chinese doctors. It is worth mentioning that Herman, Chairman of the board of directors of Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and Chairman of SaiFeng group, once provided an overall propulsion system for China's home-made large passenger aircraft C919. China's former Minister of Education, Chen Zhili, visited CNAM in 1998 and in 2002 respectively. CNAM is also one of the French universities recommended by the French Embassy in China to cooperate with China, and its school running resources have been recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
