The lecture on the Internet of Things (IoT): A Building Block of Our Smart World and Its Security is the second lecture on the Sino-French Engineers Forum. At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Tan Zhiyuan first shared his experience and compared studies overseas and at home. Then he gave some valuable suggestions: learning self-study and mastering necessary speech skills are the keys to success in university study, especially overseas study.

When talking about the internet of Things (IoT), Dr. Tan figured out some phenomena in daily life to illustrate that IoT is ubiquitous and widely used in daily life from smart bracelets, smart refrigerators and smart air conditioners to smart communities and hospitals. All the above mentioned are based on the principles of IoT.

Then Dr. Tan talked about the relationship between data mining, machine learning and the Internet of Things (IOT), and deeply analyzed the application of IoT in terms of supply chain management, express delivery and logistics, serial number and so on.

Finally, Dr. Tan expounded his unique views on the security of the Internet of Things according to his professional study. Dr. Tan shared his views on the security of authentication, privacy, and asynchronous processing from the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information system.
