Introduction of DCI

DGUT-CNAM Institute,theDongguan University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "DCI") is the first publicSino-foreign cooperatively-run institute in Dongguan, approved by the Ministry of education. DCI was founded by Dongguan University of Technology(DGUT)in cooperation with Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM). It is not only an important part of the global teaching network of CNAM, but also an important platform for the construction of internationalization strategy ofthehigh-level university of science and engineering demonstration Institute oftheDongguan University of Technology. Taking the field of intelligent manufacturing as the main development direction, DCI carries outSino-foreign cooperation in the fields of communications engineering, software engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation in the field of intelligent manufacturing.

Based on the national and provincial advantageous majors oftheDongguan University of Technology in science and engineering, relying on the long history, mature model, and outstanding contribution of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métier in the field of engineer training, DCI is combined with the development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area and meets the urgent needs of the transformation and upgrading of regional economic and industrial structure. Through the introduction oftheFrench engineering education concept and talent training system, DCI gradually forms a new engineering education model with both its own characteristics and international characteristics, and is striving to become the cradle of international engineers in cultivating high-quality international application-oriented innovative talents.

Cultivation Model

All students recruited by DCI are both students of Dongguan University of Technology and Conservatoire National des Arts et Métier. They are registered as students of the two universities and study in the two universities. During their undergraduate study, they can go to Conservatoire National des Arts et Métier for exchange and study. The credits they have taken are mutually recognized by the two universities. If they meet the conditions for graduation and degree awarded, they will be awarded the diplomas of the two universities.

Cultivation Achievements

The employment rate and enrollment rate of graduates are high. In 2021, the employment rate and enrollment rate of the first graduates were high, and the initial employment rate reached 95%. The teacher-student ratio in DCI is high, which contributes to its full attention to all students. It adopts the small-class mode and teaches all courses in English with Chinese-English bilingual mode as an aid. The faculty team of DGUT-CNAM Institute, Dongguan University of Technology, consists of the teachers from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers,teachers from Dongguan University of Technology(DGUT) recognized by Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers(CNAM)and renowned teachers recruited all over the world. Introduction of Majors

Major 1: Communication Engineering

[Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run, bachelor’s degree, four-year study]

Based on the national comprehensive reform pilot major of the University, communication engineering is an advantageous major of DCI, and has a joint laboratory with French high-speed railway and Airbus.

Training objectives:

This major adopts the talent training mode of French engineer education to cultivate students to master the basic knowledge, professional theory, and basic skills in the field of communications and information, to enable students with the ability to design and develop the equipment and systems of communications, and the ability to plan and optimize networks of communications. After graduation, students can be qualified in the fields in communication equipment and system design, communication product and service development, network planning and optimization, communication technology management and marketing, communication engineering construction and other aspects, and will be talents of international compound technology with professional knowledge and quality of an engineer in the whole network.

Curriculum System

Circuit analysis and simulation, single-chip microcomputer and interface technology, analog circuit foundation, digital circuit design, computer communication and network, digital signal processing, signal and system, electromagnetic field and electromagnetic wave, communication principle and system, high-frequency electronic circuit, advanced digital circuit design, etc.

Further Study and Employment Direction:

Students can choose to pursue further study at home and abroad, or engage in product research, technology development, technology management, technical support and other work in production and R & D departments, management departments, scientific research institutes and colleges and universities in relevant fields such as communication R & D and production, communication operation and management, information service and terminal development at home and abroad.

Major 2: Mechanical Engineering and Automation

[Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run, bachelor’s degree, four-year study]

Based on the national comprehensive reform pilot major of the University, communication engineering is an advantageous major of DCI, and has EU 5G Key Laboratory.

Training Objectives

This major adopts the talent training mode of French engineer education to cultivate students with professional skills, to master advanced manufacturing technology and mechatronics control, and to have the ability todesign and manufacturing mechanical equipment and automatic control ofthemechanical manufacturing process. After graduation, students will be high-qualified internationally compound technical talents with innovative consciousness and entrepreneurial spirit, and will be engaged in design and manufacturing, application development, operation management and other work in mechanical engineering-related fields.

Mechanical principle, physical value measurement, circuit analysis, material technology, structural mechanics, mechanical design, solid dynamics, mechanical drawing, thermodynamics, solid mechanics, structural mechanics, industrial production, industrial design, structural vibration, engineering acoustics, continuum mechanics, electromechanical transmission, and control, etc.

Based on the national comprehensive reform pilot major of the University, communication engineering is an advantageous major of DCI, and has EU 5G Key Laboratory.

Training Objectives

This major adopts the talent training mode of French engineer education to cultivate and master software engineering project R&D and management skills, to havethesolid professional comprehensive practical ability in software system design, development, testing and maintenance. After graduation, students can work as professionals with compound software engineering technology and software engineering management and can be engaged in software system analysis and design, test and maintenance and project management.
